Good morning 8th grade parents,
This announcement is for all future high school athletes. A new Florida law requires ECG screenings for any student trying out or participating in FHSAA interscholastic athletics. This new rule applies to all entering 9th grade students and any new students. I have attached a letter which explains and lists where these screenings will be held. Have a great weekend.

Good evening 6th and 7th grade parents,

We are going to start the registration process for the 26/27 school year this week. All students will be placed in 4 core classes, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. There are advanced possibilities for Language Arts, Math, and Science which will be determined by grades and progress monitoring/FAST testing that will be finalized over the summer. More explanation will be given later for advanced opportunities, but we are concentrating on Electives for the month of April. We will concentrate on our application electives first.

During the week of April 6 – April 10, we will take applications for our Office Assistants, Library Assistants, and ESE Assistants. These positions are available for both future 7th and 8th grade students, but 8th graders will be given preference. We have a limited number in each category and the deadline to apply is Thursday, April 9. This will be one of your electives and you can only apply in one area as an assistant. We will inform students selected the week of April 13.
During the week on April 13 – April 17, we will take applications for Yearbook. There are less than 30 positions for Yearbook, and the Yearbook class will be one of their electives. The deadline to apply is Thursday, April 16. We will inform students the week of April 20.

During the week April 20 - 24, we will pass out our general elective options. Two of the 8th grade electives have specific pre-requisites and are high school level courses (DIT and Spanish). DIT is a computer-based program which counts as a fine arts credit for high school graduation. The requirement for DIT is 7th grade Regular Computers and/or grades and passing scores on the FAST test. Spanish is a high school level course that requires at least a B average in current Language Arts course and a passing score of the PM3 ELA FAST test. Each of these would count as one of your 2 electives.

Other elective options
7th grade electives: Application courses listed above, Beginning Orchestra, Beginning Band (Requires a try on), Varsity and Symphonic Band (Requires Mrs. Stump Permission), Gifted Enrichment (Requires an EP), Learning Strategies (Requires an IEP), Art, PE, and Computers.

8th grade electives: Application courses listed above, Beginning Orchestra, Varsity and Symphonic Band (Requires Mrs. Stump Permission), Gifted Enrichment (Requires an EP), Learning Strategies (Requires an IEP), Art, PE, and Hospitality Management.
Students will log into the Focus portal to register for their elective choices starting Apr 20. We will go to all 6th and 7th grade science classes on Monday, April 27 to ensure all students have made their elective options and collect registration forms.
There will be a parent night in the cafeteria to discuss registration on Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Hello GBMS Families,
This is Mr. Brandon, principal of Gulf Breeze Middle, with an important message for parents and families. We conducted a lockdown drill at school today as part of our regular emergency drill process as required by state law. We know that drills can cause possible concerns for our students, but we believe it’s important for them to know exactly what to do in an emergency and these practice drills enhance their safety. Again, all students are safe, and this is simply a required lockdown drill. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are conducting a survey in partnership with Studer Education to monitor our progress in creating a positive school experience for you and your child(ren). Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify areas for recognition and improvement.

The survey will ask you to select the school your child(ren) attends. Once you complete the survey for one school, you will have the option to provide feedback on another school, if you have a child at another school in the district. Providing feedback to each school should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. We encourage you to complete it in one sitting, as your responses will be saved once you click submit.

The Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey can be accessed here:
• Santa Rosa County District Schools - Parent/Caregiver Experience Survey
https://surveys.studereducation.com/f/41822447/4417/
• QR Code link:

The survey is scheduled for 2/17/2026 through 3/13/2026.

To maintain confidentiality of the Parent/Caregiver Survey, our partners at Studer Education will be administering the survey, managing the data collection, and aggregating the data to provide results reports to leaders.

Thank you for your partnership,
Michael Brandon

Will you be doing some Spring Cleaning soon? Instead of throwing all those stuffies, blankets, old towels and old t-shirts away, donate them into the boxes in the hallways for the pet shelter NJHS is supporting. NJHS is holding a pet shelter supply drive from March 23-31. Donations can include t-shirts, towels, blankets, fresh sealed food, pet toys and all other pet supplies. All is appreciated. Let’s stuff the boxes, so Ole Mother Hubbard’s cupboard is not bare.
